The obligation

The UAE introduced a federal Corporate Tax under Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022, applying to financial years beginning on or after 1 June 2023. Taxable persons — including most mainland companies and many free zone companies — must register with the Federal Tax Authority, keep compliant records, and file a return within nine months of the end of each tax period. Corporate Tax applies at 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% above that threshold, with distinct rules for free zone persons, tax groups and transfer pricing.
